Our tamariki succeed by combining the aroha of whānau, kura and communities.

Welcome to Launchpad

Launchpad Christian Values Education is an opt-in Christian Values Education programme which takes place in state schools throughout Aotearoa.

A launchpad provides support for a rocket to leave the pull of gravity and enter space. Tamariki (children) are like rockets – full of energy and potential, with dreams of what their future will be.

Our tamariki are supported for success by combining the aroha (love) of whānau (family), kura (school) and communities.

What is Christian Values Education?

Our history in New Zealand

In 1897 Reverend James Mackenzie of Nelson gained permission from his local school committee to present a non-denominational Bible programme before the official start of the school day. That became a highly successful alternative where it was permitted by regional education boards and followed a curriculum organised by the New Zealand Council for Christian Education. It was authorised by the Education Amendment Act 1964 and continued under the Education Act 1989, subject to the permission of school trustees. Parents could withdraw their children from any religious instruction.

Throughout the decades we have been referred by several names, the most common of which are still used to day, namely ‘Bible’ or ‘Bible in schools’.

The purpose of Christian Values Education is to present our tamariki with korero (stories) from the Bible and role models from NZ History and the world to present positive values.
